Chelsea managed to beat Sunderland 1-0 in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Saturday (01/14/2012). This is the first home victory of Chelsea last three. Earlier, Aston Villa 1-3 Chelsea bent and held Fulham 1-1.
Chelsea coach Andre Villas-Boas rely on the duo Fernando Torres and Frank Lampard in this game. Thanks to the duo the game, Chelsea's capable of winning first in the 13th minute. Lampard managed to break into the Sunderland goal after maximizing bait Torres.
Just three minutes later, Sunderland almost scored a goal back through the action of Nicklas Bendtner. Luckily goalkeeper Petr Cech had foiled Bendtner's header that utilizes Sebastian Larsson's cross.
Chelsea did not allow Sunderland to develop his game. They continue to spread the threat to the heart of the opponent's defense.
Lampard almost doubled the lead his team if only Simon Mignolet not readily dispels England midfielder's shot in the 18th minute.
After that, Chelsea continued to dominate the game and diligent in making the threat. However, Chelsea failed to convert some of the opportunities created. As a result, Chelsea could only lead 1-0 at halftime.
Throughout the first half, Chelsea controlled the game with about 63 percent right off three shots on goal from 14 attempts.
After the break, Chelsea look to attack directly. The first threat came from the feet of Fernando Torres in the 49th minute. Torres efforts have not yielded results after the Spanish striker's shot was well anticipated by Mignolet.
Six minutes later, Juan Mata made Mignolet frustrated with the performance. Hard shot that is released successfully thwarted Mignolet eyes.
After that, Chelsea more diligently to spread the threat. Unfortunately, Chelsea failed to take advantage of opportunities presented. Score 1-0 to Chelsea's advantage lasted until the fight was over.
